3D – Be The Star Notebook

A quick little project post today, which believe-it-or-not was actually created by my talented eight year-old daughter. She was envious of the little notebooks I handed out to guests at my last stamping Open House, and has been begging me to make her one of her own.

She thought that I was just going to make a replica of her favorite from the Open House, but I told her she had to help me. Then I said she could choose whatever colors and stamp set(s) she wanted. You should have seen her face! She got so excited and started looking through my cabinet full of stamps … finally settling on the “Be the Star” set. Then she sat on the floor with piles of paper all around, trying to decide what colors would go where. So cute!

I did help with measuring and lining up the layers, but she did all of the scoring, cutting, stamping and layout. She was absolutely thrilled with the way it turned out! (Me too!)

3D – Thank You Chocolates

Quick post today! Who doesn’t love chocolate? I made these adorable boxes to hold a single Lindt “HELLO” chocolate bar. I plan to give these as Thank You gifts to my hostesses. The basic box was made using a single sheet of DSP and the Envelope Punch Board. The belly bands were made from the leftover scraps of the same DSPs, simply utilizing the opposing side!

3D – Pictogram Punches Notebook

I made these cute little notebooks as Thank You gifts for everyone that attended my last Open House. There were several different designs, but with the chaos of the last few weeks I was running behind and forgot to take pictures before I handed them all out!

They were quick and easy to make, and inexpensive too! The 3-1/2″ x 5″ notepads came as a pack of 5 for $1.00 from my local dollar store. The tiny mechanical pencils came from Amazon (find them here), and they were only $6.07 for a pack of 24.

Less than half of a sheet of card stock was required to make the outer folio. I used an 8-1/2″x5″ piece of Watermelon Wonder, and scored on the long side at 3-1/2″, 3-3/4″ and 7-7/8″.

I folded in the last section at the far right end, gluing it down with some Multipurpose Liquid Glue to create a stronger ledge to hold my pencil. Once that was dry, I used my bone folder to make sure the other two score lines were creased firmly before gluing down my notepad and embellishing to my heart’s content. Finally, to attach the pencil, I cut a length of ribbon and stuck it down with a glue dot (centered on that little ledge, created earlier). Then I used my handheld stapler to staple the ribbon directly on top of the glue dot before tying the pencil on, and finished with a bow!

CARD – Sending Wishes Your Way

I cannot tell you how absolutely thrilled I am about one of my newest acquisitions, the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies. Originally I was a little worried I would be stuck with a rather expensive “unitasker” (a term coined by one of my all-time-favorite television personalities, Alton Brown, to describe a tool that performs only a single function). I personally don’t make treat bags or favors particularly often, but I really loved all of the extra little dies that were included (hearts, stars, banner, phrases, etc.) I’ve been trying to force myself out of my comfort zone lately, so I decided to take a leap of faith on this one.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the assembled bag measured only a little smaller than a typical A2 card. And since this is a “flat” bag (no gussets/bottom), it works beautifully as a fancy little envelope for an adorable 3-1/2″ x 5″ pull style card (and will even fit into an A2 envelope for mailing!).

This card went together really fast, but I couldn’t be happier with the results!

I will forgo the boring details this time, as I think it’s pretty clear from the pictures how it was made. 😉

3D – Tag Topper Treat Bag/Box

Oh my goodness! I almost forgot to share these fun little Hershey’s chocolate bunny treats that I made for my co-workers just before Easter …

These were very simple to make! Just a 2″ x 11″ wide strip of Sahara Sand. I punched both ends with the Ornate Tag Topper punch, and then scored three times to get the width needed at the bottom, and the foldover piece at the front. I didn’t include those measurements, because they will vary depending upon the treat you are including and the amount of flap you want showing on the front. Then I wrapped a strip of DSP around the bottom, running under the flap and joining in the back, creating a boxed bottom. I finished it off with some coordinating ribbon, a die-cut from Apothecary Accents and a couple of circle punches. Enjoy!

3D – Sweet Baymax Box

Sorry for this super late/fast post … but OH MY WORD, how did I not think of this sooner?!!! My family is totally smitten with the character, Baymax, from the movie “Big Hero Six” right now. I have no idea exactly what led to my eureka moment, but I’m sure glad it happened … ta da!! How super cute is this little box (and unbelievably easy)?!

Stamp Day Designs, Sweet Baymax (1)

I die-cut the Curvy Keepsake Thinlit twice out of Whisper White and adhered the two pieces together so I could close it up and get a feel for the curvature of the box. Then I unlatched the box top (so everything would lay flat) and drew a straight line with a ruler where I felt the eyes should be positioned. I punched out two 1/2″ circles and glued them at the ends of that line with Multipurpose Adhesive. That’s really all there is to it!

I did add an extra little tag, because I thought he needed just a bit of color, so I stamped the “Sweet!” sentiment in Versamark ink and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto a Real Red heart. I punched a hole in one side so it could be tied it onto the box handle with a piece of 1/8″ silver ribbon.
