CARD – Happy Birthday Turtle

Goodness, gracious – what a crazy week! Well, it’s definitely back to school time. My work schedule changed to accommodate the kiddos’ school schedule (the recent job change came with a flexible schedule for which I will be forever grateful), so I’m working an extra day each week, but fewer hours each day. We’re all still getting used to the new routine, and unfortunately that means I haven’t had a lot of stamping time in the past week.

Today’s card was created a few weeks ago. My son just loves turtles, and he was in love with this stamp the moment it arrived at the house. I thought I might use it to create something for his birthday … but the resulting card just didn’t seem very childlike. No big deal, it was still very pretty, so I made him something else and saved it for my wonderful sister-in-law. (Who just happens to love turtles too!) Enjoy 🙂 …

CARD – Happy Birthday TO YOU!

More birthday cards! I know, I know … enough already, right? But the end of July, right through to the middle of August is chock full of family birthdays (mine included)!

Today’s card is a very clean and simple creation. I’ve noticed several of these stacked banner cards on Pinterest lately, and I thought I’d give it a go. I opted for an all white base, with a couple of matted layers to add visual interest. Follow that up with a few messy splotches from “Gorgeous Grunge” in appropriately festive colors (Watermelon Wonder, Island Indigo, and Pear Pizzaz), and top it off with three die-cut banners of the same.

3D – Tag Topper Treat Bag/Box

Oh my goodness! I almost forgot to share these fun little Hershey’s chocolate bunny treats that I made for my co-workers just before Easter …

These were very simple to make! Just a 2″ x 11″ wide strip of Sahara Sand. I punched both ends with the Ornate Tag Topper punch, and then scored three times to get the width needed at the bottom, and the foldover piece at the front. I didn’t include those measurements, because they will vary depending upon the treat you are including and the amount of flap you want showing on the front. Then I wrapped a strip of DSP around the bottom, running under the flap and joining in the back, creating a boxed bottom. I finished it off with some coordinating ribbon, a die-cut from Apothecary Accents and a couple of circle punches. Enjoy!

CARD – Surprise!

Today’s project was CASEd from this card by Stamps n’ Smiles. With spring in the air, I was in a bright green mood and decided to go with a vintage color, Gumball Green. (Note: Before I chose to post this project, I checked to be sure there were actually several Gumball Green products still available in the clearance rack.)

I started out with a tent-fold A2 Gumball Green Core’dinations card base, and added a panel of the recent SAB Irresistably Yours DSP (inked w/Basic Black). On top of that, I added a piece of Whisper White stamped with the Dictionary background in Basic Black ink. I added the starburst image from Kinda Eclectic and stapled a couple of small pieces of looped ribbon at the top before adhering to the card front. Then I topped it all off with the cake and surprise images stamped in Gumball Green (framed nicely by the black punched circles behind) and of course, a little bling.

CARD – Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday

Today’s project was CASEd from this card by Allison Okamitsu (of the Stampin’ Up! 2014 Artisan Design Team). I absolutely love the simplicity of her design, and it really shows that you don’t have to own the entire catalog to make a great card.

I changed up the colors from the original, using Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder and Crumb Cake, along with a panel of Smoky Slate over a base of Whisper White.

I used a pencil line and a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up my sentiments across the front panel. Unfortunately, I accidentally smudged one of the images … Oh no! But a simple strip of Stacked w/Love DSP covered up my little oopsy, and I was good to go.

Each cake was stamped in the same color as the card stock, and then punched out with the 1-3/4″ circle punch and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also added black rhinestones which I had found at a local craft store, but you could easily use Stampin’ Up!’s basic rhinestone jewel embellishments.
