CARD – Butterfly Basics Birthday

Good morning stampers! Just a quick post today, as I’ll be down in my studio making more fun stuff to share. Hope you enjoy another little birthday card made with the very popular Butterfly Basics stamp set and Butterflies Thinlits dies. It was fun layering all of these pieces together. In fact, I like it so much that I might just have to make a gift box set in a bunch of different colors …

CARD – Lovely (Early) Father’s Day

Today, I’m participating in the Can You Case It card challenge, what fun!

CYCI#66

Inspiration can come from anywhere, you just have to recognize it when it speaks to you. During a little mindless DVR surfing a couple of weeks ago, I was fast-forwarding through commercials and just happened to pause in the middle of a GMC advertisement. I left the room to grab a drink, and when I returned the GMC logo was still up on the TV screen … don’t ask me why, but something about that logo’s letter “C” really screamed out at me. I grabbed my notebook and made a quick sketch. When I was finally able to get down to work in my studio the other day, the following card was born! I really love the way it turned out, don’t you?
Stamp Day Designs, Lovely Father's Day (1) Stamp Day Designs, Lovely Father's Day (2)I started out with an A2 card base of Basic Black. The card front was embossed with the soon-to-be-retired Argyle embossing folder, over which I added a layer of Typeset Specialty DSP flush along the left (folded) edge, the Project Life Corner Punch provided just the right curve to mimic the curve of the GMC “C.” Over that I popped up a panel of Very Vanilla on some Stampin’ Dimensionals, stamped with the Oak Tree image in Basic Black. I dug through all of my sentiments and the “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes really had the right feel to go along with the card. I finished everything off with a little b&w baker’s twine.

CARD – Let’s Celebrate

Today’s project was CASEd from this card by Joy Taylor at Simple by Design. I really loved her butterflies sitting on top of the scribble, and I immediately thought of the Snuggles and Smooches stamp set, released last December. I’ve also been trying to find ways to incorporate those beautiful butterfly die cuts, but I wanted to do it in a not-so-obvious way. So many contrasts in this card … I just love the way it turned out!

I started with a Basic Black A2 card base (you could also use Very Vanilla). On the card front, I adhered a piece of Typeset DSP flush to the bottom edge. Then I cut a piece of Very Vanilla and created the curved bottom edge with my largest oval die set on an angle. I did this by tucking the piece of card stock through the center of the oval so the top half sits on top of the die, then only ran the bottom half into my Big Shot. Once that was done, I stamped the scribble and sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used sticky strip to adhere the butterfly and button. To attach the Very Vanilla panel, I used Snail at the top, and dimensionals along the bottom edge.
